Score!

Over the past several months Derek and I have been searching Craigslist for a dining room table.  Either we were to slow to call after we found one we liked or the price was just too high for us. Plus the options here on Craigslist really aren't that great. We really weren't even being that picky.

Well Friday we finally found our table. I called the man about 2:30 after only 5 minutes of the table set being posted. Luckily I was the first. About an hour and a half later Derek noticed that he re-posted saying that it was sold. That worried us a little thinking that he sold it to whomever came first. However that was not the case he was just tired of all the phone calls. We got to his house about 6pm after Derek got home from work and we picked up a trailer from a co-worker. The kids went to the neighbors because it was our date night. The man said that he had a list of 16 other people that wanted the table if we didn't buy it. Although the table is well worn it is solid wood so refinishing it won't be a problem. The best part is we bought it for $100.

We've decided to paint it white. I'm not sure how soon we will begin that large project however we are enjoying it in the meantime.

When the kids woke up Saturday and saw the table they were so happy!  Zoe's reaction was the funniest. She was just giggling with excitement. We were surprised they even cared if we got another table. Needless to say they wanted to eat breakfast there. 

Nightstands

Last week our nightstands were finally completed. They aren't perfect put they look great and they are exactly what we needed.  

This is what our garage looks like when Derek spray paints. I'm not talking about out of a can but using his latex spray gun hooked up to his ginormous air compressor. There really isn't that much over spray as compared with an airless sprayer but its keeps the garage clean of paint dust.  

We have had a hard time finding nightstands for a decent price that weren't so small. A couple months back Derek brought home wood from work. With some we already had we didn't have to buy any except a small trim piece around the top. The top wood is from leftovers from our entertainment area project. Its nice to see the scrap wood getting used. We are happy with the results. This project wasn't as easy as Derek expected it. After it was done he said he'd rather refinish furniture than build his own. I think he did a great job. 

We got the plans for this from Ana White however we did make ours wider and changed the top to use up what we had on hand.

Spring Break

Unfortunately there was a few different sickness being shared during spring break however the weather was way too nice to not get outside. Nearly everyday they got outside to ride their bikes and we made it to a park twice. Last year I really don't remember having any nice spring days. Any day that the temps were great the wind was awful. Last week was a blessing that the weather was perfect.

Maeley rode her bike the entire way there and back. Chase rode his scooter all of the way there and partly home while Zoe and I walked. This particular park was a good 45 minute walk one way. It was greatly needed to get outside and enjoy the fresh air for all of us.  

Improvise

Christmas morning after all the presents had been opened Zoe noticed there was one thing she did not get that she had asked for. A Miss Piggy stuffed animal. We had no idea she wanted one that badly. She brings it up often that she wants one. This week I guess she got tired of waiting and she improvised her own version of Miss Piggy.

This doesn't seem to be taking place of the Miss Piggy stuffed animal she wants however a temporary substitute. I am amazed at how opinionated Zoe is. She knows what she wants and doesn't want. So much so when we are buying her clothing or shoes she definitely is involved in the decision or else there is the chance she won't wear it. 

It's only Monday...morning.

Last week was hard and long. I was longing for the weekend by Tuesday. Friday finally came and Derek was beginning to feel sick. Then came Saturday and Derek never got out of bed until about 4pm. Sunday Chase got sick and now Zoe today.  I don't do well cleaning up throw up and that's what I've spent much of my morning doing.  I've been excited about spring break for weeks and this is definitely not how I imagined it beginning. I'm praying this week improves and the week goes by fast.

Zoe and coloring

Zoe's favorite color is purple. We always laughed when she was in nursery because when she had colored a picture in class about 95% of the time it was always purple and only purple. While she is expanding the colors she uses she still loves purple.

I love how she picked all the shades of purple out of the crayon box to color with. She has really gotten into coloring lately. She does not leave any part of the page white. It all gets colored.

Just like me

There isn't much I can say is just like me when talking about Chase. He is more like Derek in pretty much every way. I'm okay with that. However I've come to realize that when Chase concentrates on something such as when he's trying to write his letters, he sticks his tongue out. I did that when I was young. I remember some of my teachers noticing and laughing at me (not in a mean way but in a that's cute way).

He has been doing really well during our school time lately. He's excited about starting kindergarten in the fall.

On a side note: On our way to church Sunday Derek and I enjoyed listening to the kids conversations. For whatever reason Chase kept saying, "you're freakin' me in" when he was talking to Maeley. Derek and I had a good laugh over that because he meant to say "you're freakin' me out".

Maeley's homework

In Maeley's class they are given a homework folder at the beginning of the month and it needs to be turned in the last day of the month. Maeley loves homework. Last month she finished all the homework in the first week. This month she finished in 2 days. When she gets going she just doesn't want to stop. Sometimes I think they are too easy for her. I think there was about 35ish pages this month. Now we are back to workbooks and spelling.

We are so proud of her for doing so well in school.
