Chase's 18 month checkup

Chase's 18 month stats:

Weight: 24lbs 9oz. (between the 25th and 50th percentile)
Height: 32in. (50th percentile)
Head: 45.5cm (5th percentile)

I love well checkups. It's exciting to see how much they are growing. Chase sure is slimming down. I'm most surprised at his head circumference. To me his head feels huge, but I can't be too surprised I fit into kids hats. Yesterday was his first day in nursery. We've been waiting and waiting and now its finally here. He did NOT do well! First of all our church time has changed so he's hungry and tired. He cried so much they insisted on one of us staying with him. Derek ended up staying the entire time because he wouldn't stop crying. When it was time to clean up he would help but he was crying while he did it. He usually enjoys cleaning up. Then when it came time to snack time he didn't want anything to do with it. If you know Chase, you know he is always ready to eat. I came into nursery the last 20 minutes because Zoe began crying in Relief Society. At the end when they started doing the bubbles was the only time he almost smiled. Poor kid. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before he goes without any problem.

Disneyland Part 5: Day 3

We had an early entry pass into Toon Town so we took advantage of it. Right when we got there Minnie, Goofy and Donald were around to get pictures with. Surprisingly, Chase was not afraid of them. I think because he enjoys watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show. After that we found some breakfast and then headed over to California Adventure again. We took Maeley to see Playhouse Disney Live. After that we headed back to the hotel so Chase could nap. Derek got some one on one time with Maeley. They went to the pool where Maeley apparently went down the small slide about a hundred times and then went for ice cream. I was able to take a short nap while they were out. Wahoo!

(Maeley keeps telling me I should have put my hands up)

The last day was New Year's Eve, so how did we spend the evening? Well we had dinner reservations for 6 o'clock which ended up not happening until a quarter to 7. Unfortunately, that was feeding time for Zoe. I feed her right there at the restaurant table. That is completely out of my comfort zone and I hope never to do that again. I'd rather be home than breast feed in public let alone at a restaurant table. Well Maeley was complaining that her legs hurt and had me rub them. She then wanted me to hold her and soon fell asleep in my arms before the food was even brought to our table. We went straight to our room after dinner which was about 8. The kids went to sleep right away, even Zoe. Derek and I unintentionally feel asleep before 9. We were awoken by the first set of fireworks about 9:30 and got up to brush our teeth. We woke up again to the sounds of fireworks and midnight but both had no energy to get out of bed. It turns out that the fog was so thick you couldn't even see them from our room anyways.

The ride home wasn't as easy as the ride there. Derek's sister Kim came with us. Zoe cried on and off from Blythe until we got back to Derek's parents house. I think she was just tired of sitting in the car seat for 5 days. Sorry, Kim, you had to listen to Zoe scream for so long and thanks for helping keep Chase entertained.

Disneyland Part 4: Day 2

Day 2 we spent the day at California Adventure. For the first ride of the day we went straight to the new Toy Story "Midway Mania" ride. That was a blast. Stephanie and I took advantage of the baby swap program and went on the ride together after our husbands got off and they took our babies from us. Later we watched the Aladdin show and the Pixar parade.

So again a fuzzy picture but I just had to post a picture with him and his balloon. He carries this balloon everywhere still, even a week later. I'm afraid of the fit he will throw when it deflates.
Thanks Blaine!

The castle all lit up. You can't tell in this picture but it was pretty foggy. Marc and Kari offered to stay in our room while we went out for the night. We had a few hours to play before the park closed. We met up with Phil and Stephanie and rode Space Mountain, Pirates, Splash Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Railroad. I got pretty wet on Splash Mountain and froze the rest of the time.

Thanks Marc and Kari!

Disneyland Part 3: Character Breakfast

The morning started off with Derek taking Chase and Maeley to the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage while I stayed in the hotel because I needed to feed Zoe. This ride always has a long wait. I would have loved to have been there to take the kids but Zoe needed to eat right when the park opened. The rest of the family ended up going as well. Maeley says she woke up Nemo as they were the first in line for the ride. After that we had our character breakfast at Chip 'n Dale's Critter Breakfast at our hotel. Chase tolerated the characters the first time they came to our table, then the next time he started to cry and by the third go-around he just screamed. It was actually pretty funny.

Disneyland Part 2: Day 1

Most of our first day was spent in Fantasyland. The rides for the day included:
Snow White's Scary Adventures
Pinocchio's Daring Journey
King Arthur Carrousel
Dumbo the flying elephant
It's a Small World (twice, Chase fell asleep in it the second time)
Casey Jr. Circus Train
The Tea Cups

Maeley and I

I took Maeley to the Fantasy Fair to meet some princesses. What a good idea that was. She met Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, and Minnie dressed as a princess. When we were exiting an employee began talking with Maeley asking her who her favorite princess was. She said Princess Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty). The employee then gave us a ticket to come back in 1 hour after the show. Maeley got some one on one time with Princess Aurora for about 5 minutes in a private room. It was such a neat experience. Derek's parents got her an Aurora dress for Christmas which she now wears all the time and says she needs to go back to Disneyland and show her friend, Princess Aurora, her dress.

Maeley had the best time talking to Princess Aurora about how old she is, where she lives, what is her favorite game, her Tinker Bell outfit and much more.

I had to post this considering he says "Tinker Bell" all the time.

Later in the afternoon we really needed to take Chase back to the hotel for a nap. Maeley stayed with her Uncle Phil, Aunt Stephanie, Parker, Braden and Tama and Papa. I believe they road the Autopia Cars and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

Disneyland Part 1: Views from the hotel

For Christmas as a gift from Derek's parents we got a trip to Disneyland as a whole family. This was our first big vacation with his family since being married as we missed the last family vacation. It was a blast. The kids did extremely well considering their ages. Plus we had plenty of help as there were 10 adults and 5 kids (all 3 and under). I did feel like I was missing out on things because I was constantly feeding Zoe as every two hours comes around really fast. But all in all it was a wonderful trip. Thanks again Blaine and Marylee!

Driving to California was no problem at all even with 3 kids. Maeley did have to go to the bathroom in the middle of nowhere, so she got the pleasure of squatting near a bush. Later she said it was fun. Luckily Zoe pretty much slept the entire way there. We stopped in Blythe for lunch and stayed there nearly an hour to let the kids stretch their legs and so I could feed Zoe. While in the car if Zoe did start to cry both Chase and Maeley would start to spin the toy on Zoe's car seat to entertain her. It worked every time.

This is the balcony from our hotel room over looking Downtown Disney. I love the look Maeley is giving Chase.

Zoe's 2 month check up

Zoe's stats at 2 months.
Weight 11lbs. 10 oz (75th percentile)
Height 22.25" (50th percentile)
Head 39.5 cm (between 50th and 75th percentile)

She is quite the little piggy. She eats about every 2 hours during the day but goes much longer at night. The past 3 nights she has been sleeping about 8 hours then waking up to eat and going back to sleep for another 3. If she continues that my life will be so much easier. I can handle just about anything if I get a good nights rest. Thankfully she is no longer sick. I hadn't heard what the test results were from what they had done in the hospital a few weeks back. Well she didn't have RSV after all. Wahoo! It was such a scare having her in the hospital. We are all happy she's healthy again.
