Car Wash & Camping

Two weeks. We know. But, we have two great topics with pictures to show. Last week Derek was wanting to wash his truck. Of course Maeley loves to help dad and got her swimsuit on to get out and wash. Well, Derek's parents have a black car that Maeley has claimed as her own. She decided that while washing dad's truck that she needed to get her car clean as well. Needless to say she ended up washing more of her own car than with helping dad wash his truck. Oh well, hopefully she still likes doing that when she really has her own car. So here are some pictures of the fun time had by all, since Melanie and Chase decided to come out and participate to an extent.

This last weekend Chase, Derek and Derek's dad went on the ward "Fathers and Sons" campout. First of all, Chase is only 9 months old, so Derek had a lot of people telling him he was a brave soul for bringing such a young kid along. The truth was, Chase was the only kid NOT throwing stuff into the fire, getting into the water, whining, and just plain being a pain. Chase was great! He is the best camping buddy ever. It got to be a little chilly, but Chase slept right on through the night without a peep. Can't wait until the next campout, hopefully with mom and Maeley this time.

Easter and such...

Staring at the calendar on the wall.... realizing that "yes, it has been over a week since we started this and we are already failing to do this weekly." So... better late than never I guess. Luckily last week was Easter and we got some oh-so-cute pics of our kids enjoying the easter baskets that the egg-laying-bunny left for them (or is that egg stealing and then giving to kids bunny?) In any case, there were gifts and treats for the two rugrats awaiting them on that day called easter. We also took some pictures later in the day outside in the front on the lawn since it was such a nice day. The rest of the week... well... it was quite hectic. Derek was busy with school and work so much that he didn't see his kids for more than a few minutes until about Thursday. Even then it was a balancing act to play with them and still get school projects done (6 weeks and counting until I get that wonderful piece of paper that says "HEY! Look what I spent all my youthful time and money on! Why? So someone might think about paying more than the other guy!" We really look forward to that paper. Today...well... is Derek's birthday. 25 years old. Never would have thought to be 25, still in college (barely) with two kids. But it has been a great time of growing. To those that went through school without kids or even being married... you're missing out on an experience that is unlike any other. Going through those struggles together won't match others, in our opinion. But, that was our choice, you made yours, and no one is right or wrong. Just different. Well... hopefully this is good reading for somebody out there. Until the next "tab".

It Begins...

As we sit here and stare at each other wondering how did we get to this point in our lives, we realize its okay. Everyone is doing it. Or at least that is what they say. Yes, it is true. We have succumbed to the pressures of the world and done the unthinkable. Blogged. We know, you are asking yourselves "What hope have I if I have not given in to this societal method of online journaling so that all may see into our daily (well, more like weekly or monthly) lives?" To tell you the truth... your screwed. Give in and do it too. That's what we said. Besides, when you got kids as cute and fun as ours.... why not share with the world... or at least those who don't get to see them as oft as they would like. And to think that we chose this route versus exploiting our children via child acting or modeling. Yeah, the money would have been nice, but the paparazzi would have been too much, leaving us with no choice but to mow them over in some excessively lifted SUV with mud terrain tires and a bumper on front able to break the walls of a stone castle in Europe. So... with that, we hope that we can give something interesting to read and enjoy for our friends and family who indulge in the blog.
